Our Work

Work built around commercial reality.

Marshalls Landscaping
Marshalls LandscapingConstruction Materials

Marshalls Landscaping needed to connect with a diverse market – from landscape architects and contractors delivering major public realm projects, to professional landscapers and homeowners creating beautiful outdoor spaces. The challenge was to keep one established brand relevant, distinctive and influential across them all.

SHIFT delivers an integrated PR and engagement programme that puts Marshalls Landscaping into the conversations that matter. We build commercial authority through thought leadership, industry insight and expert commentary; create consumer stories around trends, inspiration and outdoor living; and engage directly with professional landscapers, turning the people who work with Marshalls products every day into an active part of the brand story. From media relations and campaigns to industry engagement and landscaper advocacy, we connect expertise with real-world experience.

A stronger, more connected brand – building authority with industry audiences, advocacy among professional landscapers and relevance with homeowners. The result is sustained earned visibility and credible voices helping keep Marshalls Landscaping front of mind, from major public spaces to the nation's gardens.

Bri-Stor Systems
Bri-Stor SystemsAutomotive & Engineering

As fleet operators face increasing pressure to decarbonise, the transition to electric commercial vehicles is creating a new set of operational challenges – from payload and range to vehicle configuration and whole-life performance. Bri-Stor Systems was already engineering solutions to help fleets navigate this transition, but the opportunity was to turn that expertise into a compelling external narrative. Our challenge was to move the conversation beyond vehicle conversions and position Bri-Stor Systems as a leading voice on how intelligent conversion design can help make the transition to greener fleets commercially and operationally viable.

We built a PR platform around the changing needs of the fleet industry, positioning Bri-Stor Systems at the centre of vehicle conversion, engineering innovation and fleet decarbonisation. Rather than focusing communications solely on products and individual vehicle builds, we created a broader narrative around what the transition to electric vehicles means for fleet operators and the role conversion specialists must play in solving the practical challenges that come with it. Through proactive media relations, thought leadership, expert commentary, customer stories and industry-led content, we used Bri-Stor Systems engineering expertise to contribute to the wider conversation around fleet electrification. From lightweighting and payload optimisation to range, operational efficiency and vehicle design, we translated technical capability into relevant industry issues – giving Bri-Stor Systems a stronger voice on the future of commercial fleets alongside leading organisations such as the BVRLA.

We transformed Bri-Stor Systems’ PR narrative from vehicle conversion to green fleet transformation. By celebrating its engineering expertise to one of the biggest challenges facing the commercial vehicle sector, we created a stronger platform for media engagement, thought leadership and industry positioning. The campaign has helped establish Bri-Stor Systems as more than a vehicle conversion specialist: positioning the business as an engineering partner helping fleet operators navigate the practical realities of decarbonisation and make the transition to greener commercial vehicles work in the real world.

British Gypsum
British GypsumConstruction & Materials

British Gypsum was preparing to launch its new Gyproc Firestopping range into a market shaped by increasing regulatory scrutiny, evolving compliance requirements and growing demand for fully tested system solutions. The challenge was not simply to raise awareness of a new product, but to build understanding of the risks, challenges and responsibilities surrounding firestopping compliance, while establishing British Gypsum as a trusted authority in the category.

Rather than leading with a product launch, we started by asking an industry-wide question: what should firestopping look like? Through one of the first dedicated pieces of research exploring attitudes towards firestopping compliance, specification and installation, we uncovered the challenges facing the sector and used those insights to shape a wider campaign. Combining an Insights Report with PR, webinars, technical content and paid and organic promotion, we built a narrative around the need for greater confidence, compliance and accountability, positioning Gyproc Firestopping as a solution to a recognised industry challenge rather than simply another new product.

A product launch that became an industry-wide conversation. By combining research-led insight with technical expertise and multi-channel communications, British Gypsum strengthened its position as a trusted voice in firestopping, increased awareness of the Gyproc Firestopping range and reinforced its reputation as a provider of compliant, tested and dependable fire protection solutions.

HEX Living
HEX LivingConsumer Products

HEX Living started with an ambition: to take The HEX Group’s decades of British manufacturing and engineering expertise into an entirely new market. At that point, there was no established consumer brand, no retail presence and no market position – just a vision for creating a premium range of British-made outdoor living products. Having been there from the very beginning, our challenge was to help turn that vision into a distinctive brand with the proposition, positioning and profile needed to compete in a completely new category.

For two years we operated as the HEX Living marketing team – from concept through to launch and beyond, helping shape the brand story, proposition and communications strategy as the business evolved. We built the story around British design and manufacturing, engineering excellence and a new approach to outdoor living, translating The HEX Group’s industrial heritage into a compelling consumer proposition. From launching HEX Living to market and establishing its media presence, to product launches, lifestyle PR, events, partnerships and ongoing brand storytelling, our communications evolved alongside the business. As HEX Living moved from an emerging direct-to-consumer brand towards retail expansion, we developed the PR story with it – building awareness, credibility and desirability among consumers while supporting its growing presence within the garden and outdoor living sector.

From an idea on a page during lockdown to a brand available nationwide. HEX Living has grown from an ambitious new venture within The HEX Group into an established outdoor living brand, with its products now available nationwide across a selected network of garden centres and specialist retailers. Our role has grown with it. By creating and continually developing the communications platform behind the brand, we have helped HEX Living tell a consistent story as it has moved from concept to launch, growth and national retail distribution – demonstrating the impact of PR when it is embedded in a brand journey from the very beginning.

We turn complex industry challenges into compelling communications. Whether developing white papers on damp and mould, supporting conference presentations, creating sales tools or delivering technical editorial content, we help ARC educate the market, support customers and reinforce its expertise across the built environment sector, contributing to industry conversations in a meaningful way.

A trusted communications partnership that has helped strengthen ARC's profile across the built environment sector. The HEX Group
The HEX GroupEngineering & manufacturing

The HEX Group was already a successful, ambitious collection of British manufacturing and engineering businesses, but the Group itself had yet to become a clearly defined brand. With multiple divisions, different markets and audiences, a growing portfolio of businesses and an ambitious vision for the future, the challenge was significant: to bring everything together under one compelling identity and articulate what The HEX Group stands for, where it’s going and why it matters. This was much bigger than a communications campaign. It required us to understand a complex organisation from the inside out and create a brand capable of bringing together its businesses, people and ambitions while giving the Group a powerful external voice for the first time in 40 years.

We worked at the heart of the business to create The HEX Group brand and articulate a vision that could connect its family values with its ambitious future. Drawing together 40 years of entrepreneurship, British manufacturing, engineering excellence, investment in people and continued diversification, we developed the Group proposition and established a clear brand story around Heritage, Engineering Excellence Every Day and the ‘X Factor’. From there, we built the communications system around it. Our work has spanned brand strategy and development, corporate communications, PR and media relations, internal communications, employer brand, awards, family fun days (2024 was so successful we instigated an even bigger event in 2026) executive profiling, thought leadership, digital and social content, events, community engagement and communications supporting individual businesses across the Group. Crucially, our role has been to make a complex organisation feel coherent. Whether communicating with employees, customers, prospective talent, industry, the media or the wider business community, we have created a consistent story that demonstrates how the Group’s businesses, people, investments and ambitions connect to something much much bigger.

From a collection of successful businesses to an award-winning Group with a clearly articulated identity, purpose and ambition. The HEX Group today has a brand that reflects the scale and strength of the organisation behind it – providing a platform for its businesses, celebrating its people and giving greater visibility to its contribution to British manufacturing, engineering, skills and the communities in which it operates. That transformation has translated into external recognition, culminating in The HEX Group being named Business of the Year in 2026 – powerful validation of the reputation we have helped build and the story we have helped the business tell. What began with defining a brand has become a long-term, multidisciplinary partnership spanning virtually every aspect of communications – helping turn The HEX Group’s ambition into a reputation worthy of the business behind it.
